Jr. High Softball Team is Headed to State!

The Jr. High Softball team will advance to the State Tournament on Friday after winning their game against the Liberty Eagles on Saturday 9-2.
Wolves Defeat Eagles On Multiple Hit Performance By Aubree Whitlock By GameChanger Media Aubree Whitlock collected three hits in three at bats, as Wolves defeated Eagles 9-2 on Saturday. Whitlock tripled in the fifth inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first inning. Wolves won thanks in part to five runs in the fifth inning. Jaici Yanczer singled, scoring one run, Annika K induced Ella Fuhler to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Whitlock tripled, scoring three runs. Wolves got on the board in the top of the first inning after Angela Dolbeare was struck by a pitch, Katey Feenstra walked, and Dolbeare stole home, each scoring one run. Charlie Lowe led things off in the circle for Wolves. The pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one. Isabella S opened the game for Eagles. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and three runs over one inning, striking out one and walking three. Feenstra paced Wolves with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. Wolves turned one double play in the game. S went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Only three games remain between the Lady Wolves and a State Title. The State Tournament begins Friday at 9:30 am with Mazon-Verona-Kinsman facing Kinmundy South Central. Pleasant Hill plays in Game 2 against Cambridge Jr. High School. Cambridge lies in Henry County in North Central Illinois and is a village of approximately 2,000 people. Cambridge placed 2nd in State last school year.
McNabb Putnam County faces off with Lexington in Game 3 and fellow WIVC school Carrollton St. John faces LeRoy at 3:30 in Game 4.
Winners of Games 1-4 advance to Semifinals on Saturday with the Third Place game following the Semifinals at 1:30 and the State Championship starting at 3:30.
