At PHHS, we offer a mix of Family & Consumer Science classes.
Intro to FACS - This a year long class intended to be taken as a Freshman to learn all of what FACS has to offer. First quarter we learn about personal living space and decor as well as transportation options. Second quarter is a focus on clothing choices, sewing and repair with a pillowcase sewing project. Third quarter is all about food! We complete 6 labs in this unit while learning the basics to cooking and food prep. Then, last quarter we discuss child development and taking care of children. We end the year with a personal look at goals and the future.

Clothing & Textiles 1 - Semester class offered every other year,(1st semester) on the basics of sewing. Units covered include: hand tools, pressing tools, threads & needles, sewing machines, seam finishes, buttons & buttonholes, zippers, trims and fasteners, and alterations & repair. Students will complete a pajama shorts project and an independent sewing project of their choice.
Housing & Design - Semester class offered every other year, (2nd semester) that focuses on learning about housing styles and interior design. Many small projects will be completed throughout the semester with designing a home being the culminating project.
Clothing & Textiles 2 - Semester class offered every other year (1st semester) on advanced sewing techniques.
Fashion Merchandising - Semester class offered every other year, (2nd semester) focusing on producing, marketing, and selling spirit wear and other clothing items.
