Family Reading Night Brings Books, Creativity, and Families Together

March 06, 2026

Families gathered at school for a fun and engaging Family Reading Night on Thursday, March 5, an event designed to celebrate the joy of reading and strengthen connections between students, families, and teachers. The evening was filled with stories, laughter, and hands-on activities that encouraged students of all ages to explore books together.

During the event, students could be found reading with their parents, teachers, and classmates while relaxing on gym mats around the room. Some students took turns reading aloud, while others curled up with family members to share favorite stories. The event created a warm and welcoming environment where reading became a shared experience for everyone.

Students also participated in several creative literacy activities. One of the highlights was making Reading Ninja masks, where students designed their own masks to celebrate becoming strong and confident readers. Families also enjoyed a Dr. Seuss–themed craft, adding a playful touch to the evening while connecting creativity with literacy.

To make the night even more special, each student received a treat bag to take home. In addition, preschool and younger children received a board book to help continue the love of reading at home. The books included Red Fox by Eric Carle and The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton.

Family Reading Night was a wonderful reminder that reading is not just a school activity—it is something families can enjoy together. Thank you to the families, students, and staff who helped make the evening such a success. We look forward to continuing to build a strong community of readers both at school and at home.
